EPA Lead Renovator Certification Initial Training

Pike County is offering a free EPA Lead Renovator Certification Initial Training to qualified contractors. Pike County will cover the cost of the training ($225) and provide a reimbursement for the EPA Lead-Safe Firm Certification Fee ($300) for firms that complete this training hosted by Pike County.

How to Participate

  1. Register for the training

  2. Submit qualifications to Pike County by May 16

  3. Participate in the training on May 17

  4. Submit a Firm Application to EPA

  5. Send Pike County a copy of your cancelled check or credit card receipt

  6. Respond to bids for housing rehabilitation projects

EPA Lead-Safe Certification is required by federal law for anyone who is paid to perform work that disturbs paint in housing and child-occupied facilities built before 1978 

What to Expect in the Training

The training will begin promptly at 8 a.m. at the Pike County Training Center in Hawley, PA.​

A trainer from Zack Academy will cover:

  • Course Registration and Introduction

  • Why Should I be Concerned About Lead Paint?

  • Regulations

  • Before Beginning Work

  • Contain Dust During Work

  • During The Work

  • Cleaning Activities and Checking Your Work

  • Recordkeeping

  • Training Non-Certified Renovation Workers

The class will conclude with a final exam for certification.
